Efayomi Carr

Efayomi Carr holds a deep-rooted belief in the power of startups to drive innovation and unlock opportunities for communities. Drawing from his extensive experience in entrepreneurship, social impact, and finance, Efayomi plays a pivotal role at Flourish Ventures, focusing on creating lasting impact in Africa.

Before joining Flourish Ventures, Efayomi served as the Head of Strategic Finance at Lori, a tech startup revolutionizing the trucking industry in Africa through cost-saving market infrastructure. Recognizing his exceptional talent and leadership, Efayomi was swiftly appointed as the interim CFO, where he successfully led a team of 15 finance professionals across multiple geographies. Amidst the challenges posed by the COVID-19 economic crisis, Efayomi adeptly guided the company’s financial strategies, raising emergency capital, negotiating crucial debt agreements, and forging key partnerships.

Efayomi’s journey also encompasses impactful roles with Quona Capital, where he covered Africa as a venture investor, and as an associate at the Boston Consulting Group. He played a pivotal role in the growth of Jumia, Africa’s leading e-commerce platform, serving as the Head of Marketplace and driving substantial revenue generation. Furthermore, Efayomi’s commitment to social impact led him to spend six months with the government of Sierra Leone, leading data management in the fight against the 2015 Ebola outbreak.

Efayomi’s entrepreneurial spirit was evident from the early days of his career when he co-founded Transparent Nigeria, a groundbreaking digital journalism and data sharing platform. His academic achievements include graduating from the University of Pennsylvania and earning an MBA from the prestigious Harvard Business School.

Based in Nairobi, Efayomi is not only passionate about driving financial innovation but also embraces physical challenges, as he trains for his next marathon.
