Audrine is the Foundation Programme Manager. She oversees the program's delivery, growth, and improvement to foster transformative educational experiences. With a Master's degree in Sustainable Development Practice and over six years of experience in higher education and curriculum design; she specializes in creating transformative programs that equip learners with the skills and competencies to address the continent's most pressing challenges. Audrine's expertise encompasses entrepreneurial leadership, communication, team leadership and development, and critical thinking tailored to meet diverse learner needs. Driven by the belief that education is a human right, she fosters innovation and leadership through an inclusive educational model that empowers diverse learners to thrive.

Angelique Ishimwe

Foundation Learning Coach Senior Associate

Angelique is a graduate in Communications with a concentration in Business. After landing a work-study in facilitating at her university in 2017, that is when she knew that getting involved in learning as a facilitator, trainer, and designer was her passion. She has been on this journey for more than 7 years. Angelique believes that constant learning, striving for excellence, and serving the community is what’s needed to change our continent, Africa, and it should be done by everyone’s participation starting from ALU’s students.

Silas N. Gasasira

Foundation Learning Coach Associate

Silas has an experience of over 8 years in the education sector, Silas has held various roles, including Extracurricular Program Manager, Learning Coach Associate in higher education, and Program Implementation and Development in NGOs. Throughout these roles, Silas has developed a proven track record in curriculum development, student engagement, and mentorship across diverse educational settings. Silas excels in facilitating dynamic learning experiences, fostering collaborative environments, and providing tailored support to students. Adept at communicating with diverse audiences and leveraging technology to enhance learning, Silas holds a Bachelor of Arts in Management. He is also pursuing a Master's in Sustainable Development Practices from Regis University.

Seth Abimana

Foundation Learning Coach Coordinator

Seth is a Foundations Coach Coordinator and passionate educator with degrees in Science and Mathematics Education from the University of Rwanda and Management (Logistics and Operations) from Southern New Hampshire University. He has experience teaching at various levels and served as a Teaching Assistant, supporting students academically starting from his university days. Seth has led programs to equip teachers and students with essential skills and ethical leadership qualities, reflecting his commitment to lifelong learning and creating a positive impact.

Mannoakgotla Medupe

Self-Directed Learning Skills Lab Associate

Mannoakgotla is a seasoned multidisciplinary expert with a decade of experience across various fields. An alumnus of Sheffield Hallam University with a degree in Business Management, he also earned the prestigious Mandela Centennial Scholarship to advance sustainable social impact through the Global Challenges Programme at the African Leadership University. Mannoakgotla is also passionate about continuous learning, he has developed creative skills like graphic design, video editing, photography, and sound engineering, using them to mentor young leaders making an impact across the continent.

Doris Maduka

Foundation Coach Learning Coordinator

Doris is a global challenges graduate from African Leadership University and has had multiple experiences with self-directed learning and facilitating both as a student and an intern. With the different experiences she has gained in facilitating, managing, data analysis, researching and other 21st-century skills, she has been able to make a positive impact on the students’ foundational journey at ALU. Being an ALUmni herself, she always looks forward to engaging with my students, sharing experiences and passing down the foundational skills that she has .

Raini Sydney

Foundations Coach, Senior Associate

Raini is an interdisciplinary educator and storyteller with a focus in Sustainable Development, Political Economy and Climate Change. He holds an MSc degree in Sustainable Development from the University of St Andrews, and has worked in bridging sectors, people and ideas in development context. Passionate about sustainable futures, he uses his Learning Coach role to support processes and structures that promote democratization of quality education. He aspires to use his scholarly experience to support the creation of more equitable and just societies.

As a self-directed learning coach at the African Leadership University, she thrives on connecting with students and guiding them to develop essential tech-savvy skills for their college experiences and future careers. She strongly believes that the secret to creativity and success is developed in spaces where students share diverse perspectives and work collaboratively. Ruth Bazing is an educator and media specialist with over four years of university teaching experience at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), and Academic City University in Accra, Ghana. Arnaud is the BEL program manager. He oversees the program’s operations, and development. He is an education professional with experience in distance, competency-based, and inclusive learning. He has also prior experience and interests in healthtech, healthcare management, and entrepreneurship. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Healthcare Management with a Concentration in Global Perspectives from Southern New Hampshire University and a Master of Development Practice from Regis University.

Ryan Johnson

BEL Specialisation Lead

Ryan is an educator and economic development practitioner who spent most of his professional years teaching in Africa, Europe, the Americas and the Middle East. He leads a group of diverse teaching and learning professionals who design and deliver the BEL curriculum. Johnson is based out of Cape Town, South Africa. He holds a BCom in Economics from Stellenbosch University and an MSc in Economics and Finance from the School for Oriental and African Studies, University of London.

Dr. Chioma Joy Okonkwo

Dr. Chioma Okonkwo leverages her expertise in environmental science and leadership to guide future entrepreneurial leaders. Combining dual doctorates in Environmental Biochemistry and Engineering, she champions sustainable solutions for pressing ecological challenges. Mildred Kasaya Amugune

Specialisation Learning Coach (Business, Strategy, and Investment)

Mildred is an accomplished educationist with hands-on experience spanning over nineteen years in training, academic coaching, research and development, administration, and project management. She holds a Master of Business Administration (Finance) from Africa Nazarene University, a Diploma in Management, and a Bachelor of Education (Arts) Degree from Moi University, Kenya. She is passionate about supporting and equipping tertiary education students with relevant skills to thrive academically and professionally. In addition, she is currently pursuing a PhD in Finance with a research focus on “Financial Inclusion of Rural Women in Africa”. Her areas of interest are research, youth engagement and empowerment, gender inclusivity, and entrepreneurship.

Claudine Ukubereyimfura

Claudine Ukubereyimfura earned her BA from Yonsei University in International Studies and completed her Master's from the Yenching Academy of Peking University, where she majored in China Studies (Politics and International Relations). Claudine is passionate about education and has worked as a Teaching Assistant at Peking University. In South Korea, Claudine had a diverse experience: interning with the Seoul Metropolitan Government, volunteering at the Citizen’s Alliance for North Korean Human Rights (NKHR), and teaching at various English academies. Claudine aspires to become a scholar who will use her knowledge and experiences to help bring East Asian countries and her country (Rwanda) closer together through academic research.

Celma Costa is a communications professional with 7+ years of technical expertise in Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa. Her areas of expertise include media relations, digital communications, social media management, and event planning. Bonita brings a unique perspective to their work focusing on societal impact and community driven solutions. With an Associate’s degree in Business and Communications, along with a Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Management with a concentration in Global Perspectives. Bonita has developed a skill set that bridges entreprenuership , social impact and leadership. Outside work, Bonita actively gives back to her community by training secondary school students in public speaking and career preparation. At the African Leadership University, Bonita is dedicated to the development of young leaders driven by a strong sense of responsibility to their communities and are equipped with knowledge to create empathetic solutions to the world’s most pressing challenges.

Fred Nkubito

Mission Curator Lead (Urbanization and Infrastructure)

Fred is an urban development and planning practitioner. Before joining ALU, he was a lecturer in real estate & urbanism for 10 years and has also undertaken several research assignments on donor-funded projects in Rwanda. Fred leads mission curators–a team dedicated to mentoring and guiding students to discover their academic journey's purpose. Fred holds a doctoral degree in urban development from the Technological University of Dresden (Germany) a Master’s degree in Global Urban Development and Planning from the University of Manchester (UK) and a Bachelor's Degree in Real Estate Management and Valuation from the Kigali Institute of Science and Technology.

Brian Nicholas Neza

Mission Curator (Agriculture)

From managing sustainable agriculture and food security projects to empowering youth, Brian Neza's passion for a food-secure Africa burns bright. As the Mission Curator for Agriculture at ALU, he leverages his diverse background – an MBA, expertise in animal production, and certifications in sustainable food systems – to equip future leaders with the knowledge and skills to transform Africa's food systems. Brian's extensive experience and network shape his deep understanding of the sector's challenges and opportunities. Now, he ignites innovation and connects young minds with the networks they need to build a food-secure and prosperous Africa.

Sevika Varaden Reetoo

Mission Curator (Climate Change)

Sevika has experience for several years been working on donor-funded projects within the United Nations Development Programme and the Indian Ocean Commission. She has, inter alia, assisted in the implementation of a national project aimed at scaling up renewable power generation in Mauritius and in a regional project aimed at restoring degraded reefs in the Indian Ocean. Sevika holds a Masters in International Business from Monash University. She is dedicated to ongoing learning and development and has a passionate interest in research.

Sibongile Musundwa

Mission Curator (Arts, Culture & Design)

These days, Sibongile is coming to know herself as a cultural worker without specialisation. She has worked in cultural diplomacy as an arts project manager, been the director of a small not-for-profit creative hub, been a board member for a national museum, created small online and podcast projects of her own, and in her earlier days, she was a radio show host & music manager at her campus radio station! She has an MA in Media Theory and Practice, an Honours in Economics, and is a Harvard South Africa fellow. Her work at ALU currently revolves around helping students interested in art and design find their right missions in Africa.

Kartik Mehta

Mission Curator (Job Creation and Entrepreneurship)

Kartik has over 14 years of experience in entrepreneurship, soft skills, learning and development, business management, people and performance management, client interfacing, and Financial Markets. Kartik has trained over 10,000+ aspirants to become entrepreneurs around the world, he helps aspirants on how to start a business, achieve their goals, and take their business ideas to the next level. His experience in effectively launching and scaling up ideas, guerrilla marketing and overall team training shapes the support provided to ALU students with a mission in Job Creation and Entrepreneurship.

Kagenza Sakufi Rumongi

Mission Curator- Governance

Kagenza Rumongi is a skilled communicator and researcher with a background in Civil Society, Business and Politics/Governance. Most recently, he worked as the Communications Officer at the Permanent Mission of Rwanda to the United Nations in New York, where he also represented Rwanda in the UN Third Committee on Social, Humanitarian and Cultural Affairs and covered the Africa Group portfolio and the HLPF portfolio. Outside of ALU, Kagenza is a real estate broker and co-founder of Butterfly Early Childhood Center based in Kigali. Kagenza is passionate about mentorship and runs a youth program called RESET, where he mentors young men by equipping them to live focused and disciplined lives. Kagenza has a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations.

Elizabeth Wayua Ndinda

Mission Curator- Education

Elizabeth Ndinda is the only certified International Labour Organisation( ILO) trainer of trainers for the Start and Improve Your Business program(SIYB) in Rwanda. She is also a GiANT TV-trained coach. She is a passionate educator with over 20 years of experience working in universities and Technical & Vocational institutions( TVETs) both in Kenya and in Rwanda. Elizabeth is a firm believer in the power of compassionate educators to shape the students they work with. She is particularly involved in supporting the youth to create their visions and work towards achieving those visions. Elizabeth also has extensive curriculum development experience. Elizabeth has a master's degree in Education from Moi University, Kenya. She is currently completing her second master's degree in Educational Management and Planning at Mount Kenya University.

Bosede Funmi Akinbulusere

Mission Curator- Gender Equality & Women Empowerment

Bosede has a background in gender equality and women empowerment. She served as a Board Member at the Development Initiative for Community Enhancement (DICE) and other NGOs. She is also the Founder of DICE Mentor Program (DMP). With a Master's degree in Gender Analysis and Economics and a Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Economics, she is a strong advocate for evidence-based interventions and programming. Her experience of 17+ years spans rural and urban communities in Africa working on various projects such as Agricultural Projects, Gender, Youth, Health, Environment and Climate Change Mitigation, Reproductive Health and Rights, and HIV/AIDS interventions in Nigeria. She has facilitated capacity training for different groups and led research teams at various levels. She is a renowned mentor and coach and has been involved in various mentoring initiatives with over 500 mentees across the globe. She has received several awards, including the "Hero of Humanity Award" and the 9jawomenat60 award in 2018. She was recognized as one of 60 Women making an impact in Healthcare across Nigeria during the Nigerian 60th Independence in 2020. She is a Fellow of the Africa Women Leadership Institute (2014) and the Sexuality Leadership Development Institute (2009). Besides her impressive work experience, she is a budding data analyst, an Africa Compassion Integrity Educator, and a volunteer par excellence.

Carene Roxanne Umugwaneza

Mission Curator- Healthcare

Carene Roxanne currently serves as a Mission Curator-Healthcare at the African Leadership Academy, where she teaches, mentors, and connects students to opportunities in the healthcare industry. Additionally, she is the Health Employment Pillar Lead for the Health Collaborative program. With extensive experience in global health and research, Carene specializes in health education, women’s health, and infectious and non-infectious diseases. Carene holds an MSc in Global Health Delivery from the University of Global Health Equity and a degree in Healthcare Management with a concentration in Global Perspectives from Southern New Hampshire University.

Binusha Balachandran

SE Programme Manager

Binusha is an educator and industry expert passionate about system softwares and internals and has experience in performance analysis and optimization of x86-Android Runtime Engines on benchmarking applications.. She holds a Masters degree in Computer Science and Engineering (Information Security). She currently manages the academic delivery of BSc. in Software Engineering

Marvin Ogore

SE Specialization Coach (Machine Learning)

Marvin is a Software Engineering Learning Coach, with extensive expertise in Machine Learning and IoT embedded systems. His journey spans working with Arduino architectures, Raspberry Pi platforms, and TinyML applications, designing AI solutions optimized for resource-constrained devices. Marvin's experience also includes scaling Machine Learning systems for cloud deployment and implementing decision-making algorithms with a focus on reinforcement learning. An expert educator, he has delivered ML courses through NVIDIA's Deep Learning Institute and actively pursues research in decision-making algorithms.

Dr. Aaron Afan Izang, a seasoned academic with over a decade of experience in lecturing computer science and information technology courses since 2013. Aaron Adopts a student-centered approach that emphasizes academic excellence and ethical grounding, equipping countless undergraduates and postgraduates with both technical skills and personal growth. As an Oracle Academy instructor for over five years, he has bridged the gap between academia and industry, and his IBM Blockchain Mastery award in 2018 highlights his expertise in emerging technologies. Beyond teaching, Aaron actively contributes to the academic and professional community. He has served as a reviewer for the STM Journal, member Computer Professionals Council of Nigeria and the Nigerian Computer Society. Furthermore, his international experience as an Exchange Lecturer at the University of Humanities and Economics in Lodz, Poland, enriched his perspective and enhanced his teaching approach. A prolific researcher in data driven analytics and emerging trends in computer science, his work has practical applications in academia and industry. Additionally, as a freelance data analyst since 2020, Aaron has solved real-world problems through data-driven insights. In the Software Engineering Department at ALU, Aaron is saddled with the responsibility of design and delivery of the Programming in C, Introduction to Blockchain Development, Blockchain and Applications modules as well as supervision of students’ Capstone projects.

Ndinelao Iitumba

Adjunct Software Engineering Faculty

Ndinelao is a computer scientist and educator with a passion for leveraging technology to address societal challenges in underrepresented communities. She holds a Master’s Degree in Computer Science from the University of Cape Town, where she focussed on Human Computer Interactions (HCI) studies with a look into community-centered network management. Her work focuses on designing and implementing sustainable community wireless networks and applications to enhance digital inclusion in marginalized areas. In the software engineering department at ALU, Ndinelao is involved in the design and delivery of Introduction to IT tools & Linux, Introduction to Python & SQL Databases, Introduction to Software Engineering and the supervision of capstone research projects.

Simeon

Simeon graduated with a Master of Science in Information and Communication Technology (Option: Operational Communication) from the University of Rwanda. He holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Education (Mathematics and ICT) from Busitema University, Uganda. He is also a certified Cisco Instructor, with expertise in Routing & Switching, CyberOps and DevNet. Simeon's research interests have traditionally focused on investigating the performance of complex networked systems, and how they can be optimized in the face of resource constraints and vulnerabilities. He is also interested in exploring the trustworthiness of the complicated nature of interconnected ICTs. In the Software Engineering department, Simeon is involved in the design and delivery of the Ethics in Software Engineering modules plus the supervision of students’ Capstone projects.

Isaac combines a wide portfolio by leading the skills Immersion Team and the Mission Capstone program for students completing their academic journey at ALU. Isaac epitomises the fusion of passion for education with the power of technology. With a degree in Education specialising in Computer Science and Mathematics, Isaac has carved a path marked by innovation, dedication, and a relentless commitment to empowering students through knowledge. He holds a Msc In IT and is currently doing a Master’s in M&E to build more capacity to serve. He is the former Program Lead for the Computer Science Department. He is based in Kigali, Rwanda.
