The ALU Rwanda Awards Gala

ALU Rwanda Awards Gala

The ALU Rwanda Community gathered this May to close off the 2018/2019 Academic Year in a grand style. Staff and students showed up at the Awards Gala in their best attires to enjoy an evening full of surprises, performances, fun and, of course, the awaited ALU awards.

Every year, this ALU closing ceremony rewards the students who have highlighted during the academic year in academics, ALU values, fellowship, entrepreneurship, or leadership amongst others. This year, ladies walked away with 90% of the academic awards. Esther Wambui Githinji from Kenya bagged the Leadership Core Star Award, and Garnett Achieng won the Degree Program Star Award. In the same vein, Natnael Alemayehu from Ethiopia took the Data and Decisions award home amongst many other academic stars in various courses.

Meanwhile, the community had the opportunity to vote for non-academic awards once more. These awards reflect values that the African Leadership University promotes, such as ownership, restless excellence, or continuous learning, just to mention some of them. Lots of students/staff were nominated and awarded for their contribution to the ALU Community growth. The likes of Aina Adriambola from Madagascar made it to the Gratitude Award winner. Pia Broker smiled home with the Fellowship Award, as well as the inaugural Veda Sunassee Award amongst other awardees.

The staff was not left out in this scene of gratitude. The community chose Veda Sunassee as the Staff Of The Year and David Adepoju as the Faculty Of The Year.

The highlight of the Awards was the crowing of the new Mr & Miss ALU role models. After a series of convincing speeches, Irene Ilda Fumo from Mozambique and Sieh Mansaray from Sierra Leone were crowned Mr & Miss ALU respectively.

The evening ended on a high note with a surprising and exciting dance performance from the staff members that left everyone awed and itching to capture the moment.

A big congratulations to all the awardees for this year, we invite you to join us in celebrating them. We hope that their success this year will be a huge inspiration for more people to aspire to be like them in the next academic year.
